Native American Eagle Claw Peace Pipe
NATIVE AMERICAN CEREMONIAL EAGLE CLAW PEACE PIPE
This gorgeous Peace Pipe is handcrafted by Navajo artist Nora Long.
The Peace Pipe and the Eagle are revereded by Native American peoples and these two elements are combined in this pipe.
Representing the Four Winds upon which the Eagle feathers flies, a Medicine Wheel is attached to the Pipe.
The Fox bone, arrowheads and teeth would have deep symbolic power for the owner of this Peace Pipe.
The foot of the Eagle holds the offering.
The "Peace Pipe" was the very heart of their religion, and political lives as well as intertribal conferences and treaty negotiations.
Medicine Men used it in ceremonies to heal sickness and to ward off danger and trouble. The pipe styles also varied from tribe to tribe and individuals. The Indians fashioned them from bone, wood, clay and a variety of stone materials. But in one respect all were the same; all were sacramental and were believed to be of divine inspiration. The bowl was the alter and in it was burned the sacred offering, Tobacco.
It has an antiqued finish and is wrapped in buckskin. Feathers are fashioned along the handle along with tassels and arrowheads. The Eagle claw is synthetic and the bowl is made from antler and is also antiqued for an authentic Indian look.©
